Challenge
The homeowners wanted to expand their living area but the original footprint was limited. The existing roof was aged and showing deterioration, and the structure needed reinforcement to support a second story. The framing had to be carefully planned to maximize usable space while maintaining structural integrity during the transition.
Solution
HCC tore off the old roof and framed a new second story with dimensional lumber throughout. New roof framing was installed with proper slope and spacing, and sheathing was laid for weather protection. Roof underlayment and dark shingles were applied. New window and door openings were cut into the framing, and exterior walls were prepared. The interior framing shows careful layout with mechanical chases and proper bearing points.
