Short Hills Kitchen Flow Upgrade
A kitchen redesign focused on fixing the traffic jam between the fridge and the stove, opening up real prep space, and picking finishes built for a busy family.
Challenge
The kitchen had enough square footage but the layout was constantly in the way. The island blocked the path between the fridge and the range, and prep space was scattered across two disconnected counter runs that nobody could actually use together.
Solution
We moved the island, put the main prep zone right next to the range so cooking flows naturally, and swapped most of the cabinet doors out for drawers — much easier to use, much less wasted space. Finishes were picked for how they hold up day to day, not for how dramatic they look in a magazine.
Outcomes
- Prep and cleanup zones no longer compete for the same counter space
- Island seating works without blocking cook traffic
- Material choices hold up to heavy daily family use without constant maintenance
