Denville family room and fireplace renovation

Challenge

The original room had poor lighting, an outdated fireplace surround, and inefficient layout that didn't work for how the family actually used the space. Wall-mounted shelving and storage were minimal, making it hard to display items or keep the room organized. The flooring and finishes felt dated, and there was no real focal point beyond the fireplace.

Solution

We removed the old fireplace surround and rebuilt it with herringbone tile and a clean white frame. Installed recessed lighting throughout the ceiling for even, modern illumination. Added built-in floating shelves and custom white shelving units for display and storage. Replaced all flooring with new hardwood and installed fresh drywall with quality paint. The kitchen connection on the right side now ties into the overall aesthetic with stainless appliances and wood cabinetry visible from the main space.
