Bridgewater deck restoration and board replacement

This Bridgewater homeowner's deck had weathered wood boards, discolored sections, and visible rot in spots that made it unsafe and unsightly. We removed the damaged decking, replaced it with new pressure-treated boards, and refinished the entire surface to restore function and appearance.

Case study

How this project came together

Challenge

The original deck showed heavy weathering, with graying wood, soft or splintered boards, and uneven coloring from years of exposure. The wood around the brick chimney and certain high-traffic areas showed the most wear. The homeowner couldn't safely use the space without risking splinters or stepping through weakened sections, and the deck looked tired despite the solid frame and railings underneath.

Solution

We removed all compromised decking boards and replaced them with new pressure-treated lumber throughout the main surface. We cut and fit new boards around the brick chimney base, maintained the existing railing structure, and applied a deck stain to create a uniform, protective finish across the entire surface. The work preserved the sound frame and joists while giving the deck a clean, solid walking surface.

Outcomes

  • New, safe decking boards eliminate splinters and soft spots
  • Uniform color and finish make the deck look well-maintained and intentional
  • Restored outdoor space ready for dining, entertaining, and everyday use
